A Typical Day in My Life

I’d like to take the opportunity to walk my visiting bloggers through a day in my life. On a typical Saturday morning, I wake up around 9. I try to go to the gym before doing anything else, so I can get the hard part of my day out of the way nice and early. I spend most of my time running at the gym, as I’m not a huge fan of lifting weights. After I workout, I go home, cook some breakfast, and shower. This is when my day really starts. Next, I usually go grab some iced coffee and stop by my grandma’s house since she lives close by. If I’m feeling productive I will do some laundry or homework. But, if I am feeling lazy I might just watch TV for a bit. I might run some errands or go food shopping, depending on what I’m in the market for that day. Lastly, I either call up my friends to make some dinner plans, or possibly go out to dinner with my family and then see my friends after. Lately there isn’t much to do because of Coronavirus, but I am trying to keep busy and make the best of it all!

Vocab:

Take- verb. Lay hold of (something) with one's hands; reach for and hold

Walk- verb. Guide, accompany, or escort

Wake- verb. Emerge or cause to emerge from a state of sleep; stop sleeping

Spend- verb. Used to show the activity in which someone is engaged or the place where they are living over a period of time.

Running- verb. move at a speed faster than a walk, never having both or all the feet on the ground at the same time.

Feeling- verb. be aware of (a person or object) through touching or being touched.

Vocabulary: Use 6 of the vocabulary terms above in a sentence. To make this challenge more difficult than my last vocabulary exercise, I challenge you to use two vocabulary words in each sentence. Write three sentences (2 vocabulary words in each).

Grammar point: A verb is a word used to describe an action, state, or occurrence, and forming the main part of the predicate of a sentence, such as hear, become, happen. Write a 6 sentence paragraph about the last time you broke a sweat! Try to use as many verbs as you can!

  1. Nice entry! You sure have a busy day! I like the vocabulary challenge. Th grammar challenge is good too, but be careful of using idioms in your assignments; for example, "broke a sweat" might not be familiar to the ELLs.

  2. Hey Julia, I love to run too! It was nice to hear that you spend a lot of time with your grandmother, because not everybody does. I'm glad you have such a positive attitude and have been able to adapt to the "new normal".

  3. Hello Julia, great blog post. I can definitely relate to your productive and lazy days. I do have to say that every time I go on a jog with my husky, I always come back more energetic, feeling that I am going to do so much throughout the day. However, I end up doing two tasks out of the many I had in mind, because I am drained. The exercises you added are great because many students can easily identify the meaning of the word in the paragraph provided but applying it, is a different case.

    Great job!

  4. Hi Julia,
I love to run too! Since I had all this free time in the beginning of COVID before the weather got super warm, I began to run frequently, which eventually turned into something I would do almost daily. I am with you on those lazy and productive days too. Some days I try to be so productive but if a great movie is on or one of my favorite shows is on, it ends up turning into one of those lazy days that may end with me not doing anything the whole day.
    Great post!
